OWL’S HOUSE

NORTH STONINGTON, CONNECTICUT

The design of Owl’s House at 100 Acre Wood is a peaceful sanctuary for the owners and guests. Set among eastern Connecticut’s pastoral landscape, it pays homage to the 280-year history of the farm and hundred-year-old bespoke gardens. Inspired by the artist Andrew Wyeth, the design reflects the balance of nature and hand-hewn details — hues like parchment, stone, and deep woodsy tones create an overall sense of elegance.

With stunning views of seasonal foliage, rolling hills, and grazing Texas Longhorn cattle, the three large picture windows bring the outdoors in. There’s an eclectic mix of furnishings, from curated antiques to contemporary pieces, creating an exciting and inspiring vacation space, including subtle textural details like honeycomb recycled glass tile, hand-painted Spanish tile, and touches of gold and woven metallic. Lighting is crucial, so all fixtures are dimmable, and accent lights bring a warm flicker that transforms the nighttime space.

Project Management:

The complete remodel included managing contractors, budget, construction, and installation of new plumbing, electrical, bathroom, kitchen, appliances, windows, flooring, and roof. All linens and home furnishings were sourced and purchased.
